The New York-23 race, where a Conservative candidate (Hoffman)  forced a liberal Republican (Scozzafava) off the ballot, is a very interesting one which could send a message to the GOP leadership.  It's looking like the Conservative (who would then caucus with the GOP) can win that one.

The Republican McDonnell doing well in Virginia isn't much of a story.  What was the story is when Democrats did well.  Outside of the northern DC suburban area, that's a Republican state.  However that he is being painted as a more MOR Republican.

The most interesting development is that it is still well within the possibility that New Jersey could elect a Republican governor.  Christie has a real shot at Corzine.  IIRC, another Christie winning in New Jersey (Christine Todd Whitman) presaged the GOP take over of the House.  It will be an interesting election.
