Well, I disagree with your statement based on historical precedents in this country and the writings of the founding fathers. More importantly to me, I disagree with you because it is an alien concept of government in light of God's Word, the Holy Bible. It's a communist idea for communist nations.

I also must disagree. After all, what are the Ten Commandments if not God's legislation on morality? A Godless nation is a dying and doomed nation!

Read Thomas Paine's Rights of Man, or even pay close attention to Jefferson's edition of the bible, especially how the whole story ends. many of the founding fathers were deist, but also many were christian. Read Jefferson's letters to Madison and other leaders on matters of religion.

Read the Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli.

I'm going to have to agree that the government needs to stay out of religion. If you allow the government to promote Christianity over other religions, what's to stop some politicians in the future from promoting Voodoo or Everybodydodrugs-ism. The founding fathers took great pains to ensure the government did not tell you what to believe or say.

Christianity isn't even one religion. Which would you have the government promote? Catholics? Protestants? That religion that King James suddenly decided to create? Mormons?

What's next, a law that says I must go to church on Sunday or face imprisonment? A ticket for saying "darnit!" when I stub my toe? How about bringing back some Old Testament laws?

Sorry, I wont stand for people being stoned to death for any reason.

It's best to keep government out of this.
